India’s Attempt to Block Water for 240 Million Pakistanis Will Never Succeed: PM Shehbaz Sharif

Lachin, Azerbaijan – Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has strongly condemned India’s alleged attempts to block Pakistan’s water, stating that water is the lifeline for Pakistan’s 240 million people and any such move by India will never succeed.
Speaking at the Trilateral Conference in Lachin, Azerbaijan, alongside Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan and Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev, PM Sharif emphasized the deep-rooted bonds between Pakistan, Türkiye, and Azerbaijan. He expressed gratitude to President Aliyev for hosting the conference and highlighted the shared religion, values, and culture uniting the three nations.
The Prime Minister said, “Pakistan is fortunate to have loyal friends like Türkiye and Azerbaijan.” He also criticized India’s aggressive stance in the aftermath of the Pahalgam incident, noting that while Pakistan offered a transparent investigation, India presented no evidence and hastily blamed Pakistan without proof.
Reiterating Pakistan’s stance on Kashmir, PM Sharif called for a resolution in line with United Nations Security Council resolutions, asserting that any unilateral action by India on water rights or territorial matters would not be accepted.
Azerbaijan President Backs Pakistan Amid Regional Tensions
In his address, President Ilham Aliyev stated that the recent tensions between Pakistan and India were concerning, and Azerbaijan stood firmly with Pakistan. He recalled the support Azerbaijan received from both Türkiye and Pakistan during the 2020 conflict and noted the growing defense cooperation among the three nations.
President Aliyev said, “We are reviewing investment projects worth $2 billion and are committed to enhancing partnerships across various sectors, including defense.” He emphasized the importance of peaceful resolution of conflicts and reaffirmed Azerbaijan’s support for Pakistan in regional disputes.
Azerbaijan Celebrates Independence Day
Separately, President Aliyev addressed a ceremony commemorating Azerbaijan’s Independence Day, extending heartfelt congratulations to the nation and highlighting the importance of unity and progress.
The trilateral conference marked a significant step toward strengthening strategic and defense cooperation among Pakistan, Türkiye, and Azerbaijan, with shared commitments to peace, mutual respect, and regional stability.
