Indian Prime Minister Modi’s Statement on Peace, Pakistan Responds

Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi, in a recent interview, mentioned that when he became Prime Minister, he specially invited Pakistan to his swearing-in ceremony. He emphasized that he personally traveled to Lahore in search of peace. Modi expressed his belief that the people of Pakistan also desire peace, calling his invitation to Pakistan a significant moment.

Despite his peace-focused comments, Modi, who previously denied permission for the Indian cricket team to visit Pakistan, remarked that sports have the power to unite the world, and he would never want to see them tarnished.

In response, Pakistan’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs rejected Modi’s remarks, calling them misleading. A spokesperson pointed out that the Kashmir issue remains unresolved due to the United Nations’ commitments, and Indian statements cannot conceal the atrocities occurring in occupied Kashmir. The spokesperson further urged India to reflect on its actions rather than blaming others.

The statement concluded by reiterating Pakistan’s stance on always advocating for constructive and results-oriented dialogue regarding Kashmir, while accusing India’s anti-Pakistan narrative of impeding peace and cooperation prospects.
