Indian Journalist Vikrant Gupta Amazed by Pakistani Hospitality During Champions Trophy Coverage

Renowned Indian journalist Vikrant Gupta, who came to Pakistan for the coverage of the ICC Champions Trophy, was left in awe of the hospitality extended to him by the Pakistani public. His videos, shared on social media, have gone viral, showing him strolling through the streets of Lahore, where locals could be seen cheering for him by name and even presenting him with a Sindhi Ajrak as a gift.

Gupta expressed that he never imagined that the Pakistani people would host him so warmly, as he is just an ordinary journalist. He remarked that not only was he being shown affection, but the Indian cricket team was also receiving love from the Pakistani public, which truly surprised him.

He further mentioned that despite Pakistan’s early exit from the Champions Trophy after losing to India, the Pakistani public was still speaking highly of Indian cricketers like Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma. “People respect them,” Gupta said, adding that he was amazed by the love and respect he received in Pakistan, which was beyond what he had expected.

Addressing the issue of the Indian cricket team’s refusal to tour Pakistan, Gupta stated, “I came to Pakistan alone, so I don’t hold any significant importance, but the Indian team as a whole has a much higher significance. The reason the Indian team doesn’t come to Pakistan is not just because they feel unsafe, but also because there is no relationship between the two countries, and no one has made an effort to repair that relationship. I don’t blame any single person for this.”

Gupta’s comments highlight the warmth and respect he experienced in Pakistan, despite the tense political climate between the two countries.
