India Removes All Pakistani Songs from Major Music Streaming Platform Amid Rising Tensions

New Delhi:In a controversial move, India has removed all Pakistani songs from a popular music streaming platform following heightened tensions between the two countries. This latest development comes after India’s Ministry of Information and Broadcasting issued an advisory directing all OTT platforms and media streaming services to remove any content originating from Pakistan, including web series, films, songs, and podcasts, from within Indian borders.

The decision follows a series of actions against Pakistani content in India, including the removal of Pakistani singer Atif Aslam’s name from tracks on the YouTube channel of Indian music company Zee Music. This new restriction has sparked a backlash from music enthusiasts and critics who argue that it further exacerbates the cultural divide between the two nations.

The Indian government’s directive to remove Pakistani-created content has extended beyond music, with earlier actions including bans on social media accounts of Pakistani actors in India. Additionally, Indian music companies have started to erase images of Pakistani performers from album covers of Bollywood films.

While the two nations have experienced ceasefire agreements, India’s actions seem to reflect ongoing animosity, as many in the country remain unable to come to terms with their defeat in recent conflicts. Despite the end of direct military confrontations, these cultural and media-related retaliations continue to escalate.
