India Loses Hosting Rights for Blind Cricket World Cup Due to Refusal to Allow Pakistan’s Participation
Islamabad: The Blind Cricket World Cup scheduled to be held in India next year has been stripped from the country after India refused to send its team to Pakistan for the ongoing Blind T20 World Cup. The issue arose when India denied granting an NOC (No Objection Certificate) for its team to travel to Pakistan for the event.
A heated discussion took place during a meeting of the World Blind Cricket Council (WBCC) in Multan regarding India’s refusal to send its team to Pakistan. As a result, the council decided to revoke India’s hosting rights for the Women’s Blind Cricket World Cup, which was scheduled to take place next year.
The primary reason for this decision was India’s refusal to grant visas to the Pakistan team for the 2022 Blind World Cup. The council emphasized that such actions hinder international cricket relations and undermine the spirit of sportsmanship. It was also agreed that, due to ongoing political tensions, neither Pakistan nor India would be awarded the hosting rights for future international blind cricket events. Instead, all events between the two countries will be held at neutral venues.
Additionally, the council confirmed the reappointment of Pakistan’s Syed Sultan Shah as the Chairman of the World Blind Cricket Council for the upcoming term. Elections for the council’s leadership for the next three years were also held during the meeting.
