India Faces Major Setback as Jasprit Bumrah Likely to Miss Champions Trophy Group Matches

Islamabad:Indian fast bowler Jasprit Bumrah is expected to miss the group matches of the upcoming ICC Champions Trophy due to an injury setback.
According to Indian media, Bumrah has been diagnosed with swelling in his back, an issue that first arose during the Sydney Test of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy. Following the injury, Bumrah has been instructed to report to the National Cricket Academy in Bengaluru, where the selection committee has already been informed of his fitness status.
Bumrah was also excluded from the T20 squad for the series against England, indicating concerns about his fitness. Additionally, India has requested an extension to submit their squad for the Champions Trophy.
The final date for submitting the initial squad to the ICC is today, and selectors plan to announce the team closer to the tournament, depending on Bumrah’s fitness reports.
Indian media reports suggest that Bumrah is expected to be fully fit by the first week of March, just in time for India’s final group match against New Zealand on March 2 in Dubai.
