India Creates New Controversy Over Champions Trophy Jerseys Ahead of Tournament in Pakistan

Islamabad:India has sparked a new controversy ahead of next month’s Champions Trophy, which will be hosted by Pakistan, drawing criticism for politicizing sports.

According to reports from Indian media, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has refused to feature Pakistan’s name on the jerseys of the Indian team during the tournament.

The reports suggest that India is bringing politics into cricket, which is not ideal for the spirit of sportsmanship. Previously, India had refused to travel to Pakistan for the event, rejected sending their captain to Pakistan, and now reports indicate that they are unwilling to wear jerseys that display the host country’s name.

Before this, India had insisted on a hybrid model for the event, refusing to play matches in Pakistan, which led to delays in the announcement of the event’s schedule. As a result, it was decided that India’s matches would be held in Dubai.

Furthermore, India had also refused to send their team captain, Rohit Sharma, to the “Captains’ Meeting” scheduled to be held in Pakistan ahead of the tournament.
