India Announces Civil Defence Drills Near Pakistan Border Amid Rising Tensions

New Delhi – The Modi-led Indian government has once again announced large-scale civil defence drills in what appears to be another display of military preparedness fueled by war hysteria.
According to Indian media reports, the drills will take place tomorrow in four Indian states bordering Pakistan — Punjab, Haryana, Rajasthan, and the disputed region of Jammu and Kashmir.
During these exercises, air raid sirens will be sounded and power outages will be simulated. The aim is to test the effectiveness of air attack warning systems and assess the operational readiness of control rooms in case of conflict.
As part of the civil defence training, citizens — especially students — will be educated on safety protocols and survival tactics in the event of war. Nighttime blackout drills will also be conducted to train people in avoiding detection or targeting during aerial surveillance or airstrikes.
The exercises will include activation and assessment of various civil defence services such as warden duties, firefighting units, rescue operations, and depot management.
Analysts view these repeated drills as part of India’s escalating military posture in the region, particularly in areas close to the Pakistan border, raising concerns about the potential for increased regional tension.
