Imran Khan’s Sisters Once Again Barred from Meeting Him at Adiala Jail; Aleema Khan Protests on Footpath

Rawalpindi: Imran Khan’s three sisters were once again denied a meeting with the former Prime Minister at Adiala Jail. According to Express News, today was designated for official visits, with several lawyers and family members arriving at the jail for scheduled meetings with Imran Khan and his wife, Bushra Bibi.
Despite this, Khan’s sisters were stopped at the Gorakhpur checkpoint, where Aleema Khan exited her vehicle and sat on the sidewalk in protest. Speaking to the media, she said they had been tricked during a previous attempt when police claimed to be arresting them but instead left them in an isolated area after taking them to the Margalla Police Station.
Aleema stated, “Wherever they stop us, we will sit there. Last time they only allowed two sisters, excluding me. Now they’re barring all of us.”
She further alleged that the police had deliberately moved the security checkpoint even farther today to obstruct their visit and added, “We are here as family. If we’re not allowed to meet him, we have no option but to protest peacefully.”
When asked about claims that Imran Khan himself did not wish to meet them, as mentioned in a press release by the jail superintendent, Aleema laughed and refuted it. She referenced Razia Sultana, who had met Khan during the previous hearing and confirmed that Khan had raised a commotion inside the jail over not being allowed to meet his family.
Lawyer Salman Akram Raja, who was also stopped at the checkpoint, told reporters, “It’s clear now they don’t intend to allow any meetings. This is a blatant violation of High Court orders. We will raise this issue in Parliament.”
Barrister Gohar Ali Khan, another key legal figure in Khan’s defense, was initially denied entry but later granted permission to meet Khan. Meanwhile, Bushra Bibi’s legal focal person, Advocate Naeem Haider Panjotha, also faced obstruction and alleged misconduct by police officials despite his name being on the approved visitor list.
Lawyer Faisal Chaudhry, Barrister Salman Safdar, Dr. Imran, and Rai Salman were eventually allowed inside for meetings.
This incident mirrors a similar episode from a few days ago when Khan’s sisters were barred at the same checkpoint. After protesting, two sisters were allowed inside, but Aleema Khan was denied entry, leading all three to abandon the visit in solidarity. They were briefly detained and then dropped off at an undisclosed location hours later.
The recurring denial of access to Khan’s family continues to raise questions about legal transparency and the administration’s adherence to court-mandated visitation rights.
