Imran Khan’s Sister Alima Khan Reveals Government’s Offer for PTI’s Protesters to End Sit-in in Exchange for His Release
ISLAMABAD:Alima Khan, the sister of PTI Chairman Imran Khan, has revealed a significant offer made by the government to the party’s legal advisor, Barrister Gohar, during the protests held on November 24. She claimed that the government proposed to release Imran Khan if the PTI protesters ended their sit-in and returned to their homes.
Speaking to the media outside the Anti-Terrorism Court in Lahore, Alima Khan stated that the government, fearing the growing number of protesters, contacted Barrister Gohar and under pressure, sent him to meet Imran Khan in jail. The government assured that if the protesters dispersed, Imran Khan would be released within 20 days.
Alima Khan also highlighted the ongoing legal issues surrounding Imran Khan’s cases, stating that the trial for the May 9 incidents had not begun yet. She criticized the prosecution, saying they lacked substantial evidence and had failed to present a solid case, causing unnecessary delays and wasting the time of the accused.
She further condemned the justice system, calling it a “mockery” and expressing frustration with the lack of clarity in the investigation of cases against her and other party members. Alima Khan stated that even in the October 5 case, the police had no clear information about their roles. She concluded by emphasizing that people’s lives were being ruined due to these unjust proceedings.
