Imran Khan’s Lawyers File Petition Against Investigating Officer for Blocking Meeting, Court Summons Officer
Rawalpindi: Imran Khan’s legal team has filed a petition in the Anti-Terrorism Court (ATC) seeking action against the investigating officer who blocked their access to the former prime minister. The court has now summoned the officer to appear before it.
According to Express News, Khan’s lawyers, Faisal Chaudhry and Malik Faisal, submitted a new petition in the ATC requesting permission to meet their client. In their petition, they argued that the court had directed them to approach the investigating officer for the meeting, but the officer refused to facilitate the meeting.
The petition also stated that the Superintendent of Jail had claimed that Khan was under the custody of the police, not the jail administration. The lawyers emphasized that meeting their client was a constitutional and legal right. They requested that the investigating officer be ordered to allow the meeting with Khan.
In response, the court issued a notice to the investigating officer from New Town Police Station and summoned him to appear at 2:30 PM.
Faisal Chaudhry, one of Khan’s lawyers, expressed concern over the situation, stating, “The Punjab government is hostile towards Imran Khan, and today our meeting with him must be ensured. The nation is deeply worried about his health and safety. There are distressing reports circulating on social media. A physical remand does not equate to punishment, and constitutional rights to meet during an investigation should be upheld.”
