Imran Khan Vows to Resist Oppression Even from Jail

Rawalpindi: In a recent informal conversation with journalists at Adiala Jail, Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) founder Imran Khan made a defiant statement, asserting that he would rather die in prison than accept subjugation to the current regime. Khan criticized the authorities for their handling of national issues and expressed his resolve to stand firm against what he termed as the “Yazid of the time.”
Khan’s remarks followed his commentary on the state of Pakistani cricket, highlighting the failure of officials and the poor performance of the national team. He pointed out the disarray in cricket administration, criticizing those in charge for their alleged corruption and mismanagement.
Khan warned that the country is heading towards a revolutionary shift, accusing decision-makers of imprudent choices and asserting that his wife, Bushra Bibi, has been unjustly imprisoned for seven months as a lesson to him. He declared his unwavering stance against the current power structure, emphasizing that he would not submit to what he perceives as tyranny.
On the issue of regional crises, Khan noted the worsening situation in Balochistan and stated that if PTI were not active in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, the region would face similar turmoil. He advocated for local body elections in Balochistan, arguing that poverty and corruption in the region are exacerbated by the failure of funds to reach the local populace.
Addressing the ongoing insurgencies, Khan questioned the narrative that links terrorism to PTI’s actions while overlooking the violence perpetrated by groups like the Balochistan Liberation Army (BLA). He stressed the need for a comprehensive approach to combating terrorism, including intelligence, dialogue, and operations, rather than solely relying on military action.
During the briefing, journalists raised concerns about a recent accusation by Khan’s sister, Aleema Khan, who alleged that reporters from several private news channels were affiliated with intelligence agencies. Khan assured the journalists of his trust in them and promised to address the issue with his sister.
This confrontation underscores Khan’s continued resistance against the prevailing political and administrative systems, even from within the confines of jail.
