Imran Khan Supports Talks with Military, Criticizes Opposition in Rawalpindi Address

****

In a recent address in Rawalpindi, Imran Khan, the founder of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), voiced his support for negotiations with the military, urging them to appoint a representative for talks. He emphasized that their criticism of the military was akin to criticizing a troubled child at home. Khan also expressed solidarity with the Baloch community’s efforts for the recovery of missing persons, condemning the practice of enforced disappearances in Balochistan as unjust. During an informal conversation at Adiala Jail, Khan likened criticisms of the military to an essential facet of democracy. He also referenced Supreme Court rulings, alleging former Prime Minister Zulfikar Ali Bhutto’s sentence as unlawful, attributing responsibility for it to General Zia-ul-Haq. Addressing potential critics, Khan asked whether they would stop criticizing the military if injustice was committed. He further questioned the roles of ISI and its non-disclosure.
