Lahore: Imran Khan, the founder of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), has filed a request in the Lahore High Court opposing the potential handover of his custody to the army. Represented by his lawyer, Azhar Karamat, Khan’s petition names federal government officials and all provincial IGs as respondents.
The PTI founder asserted in his plea that custody related to cases from May 9 could be entrusted to the military. He urged the court to direct that custody in cases pertaining to May 9 be kept with civilian courts and issue a stay order.
Imran Khan’s move follows his recent statement alleging a fabricated narrative against him to incite protests against the ISI. He pointed out that the May 9 incident was a false flag operation, akin to the Capitol Hill incident in the United States, where thorough investigation and CCTV footage review resulted in only the guilty being punished, without implicating entire political parties like the Republicans.
