Imran Khan Criticizes the ‘Flawed’ Al-Qadir Trust Case and Calls for Judicial Accountability

Islamabad:The founder of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), Imran Khan, has criticized the ongoing Al-Qadir Trust case, calling it a baseless and absurd case aimed at further tarnishing his reputation. He emphasized that the case, in which he is being sentenced, offers no benefit to him or the government.

While speaking to journalists and lawyers at Adiala Jail, Imran Khan remarked that the real punishment in this case should be for Nawaz Sharif, who allegedly received a bribe of 9 billion rupees. He further pointed out that several cases, including those concerning Mayfair apartments, are pending against figures like Nawaz Sharif and Asif Zardari, who illegally acquired luxury vehicles from the Toshakhana. He argued that these individuals have had their cases dismissed after accepting deals with the authorities.

Imran Khan claimed that his wife, Bushra Bibi, was wrongfully implicated in the Al-Qadir Trust case with the sole purpose of exerting pressure on him. He noted that she had been imprisoned for nine months previously without any charges.

He also raised concerns about the neutrality of the judiciary, urging for the establishment of a neutral judicial commission to investigate the events of May 9 and November 26, stressing that the current government is evading such an investigation due to its dishonesty.

The PTI founder stated that they would write to the head of the constitutional bench, Justice Ameen-ud-Din, to request the immediate hearing of petitions related to human rights violations against PTI supporters. He expressed concerns about the physical and mental torture faced by political detainees.

Imran Khan also revealed plans to write to international human rights organizations and the United Nations, as they have not found justice in any Pakistani court. He criticized judges like Justice Faiz Isa and Justice Aamer Farooq for their apparent allegiance to the establishment.

Reflecting on the broader issue of human rights, Imran Khan pointed to the case of General Pinochet, who, despite his power, faced punishment for human rights violations. He accused the authorities of abducting and torturing PTI workers and suggested that those who abandoned PTI after May 9 were cleared of all charges.

Addressing the controversial February 8 elections, Imran Khan stated that the rigged elections had undermined democracy and governance in Pakistan, plunging the country into political and economic instability. He announced that February 8 would be observed as a day of mourning, marking the day when the “fake” government was established and democratic rights were suppressed.

Imran Khan emphasized that negotiations should not be for personal gains, but to address the wider interests of the country, including resolving political, economic, and security crises. He reiterated the importance of ending the political crisis to ensure Pakistan’s stability and progress.
