Imran Khan Calls for Talks by Tomorrow or Threatens Protest

Islamabad: Imran Khan, the founder of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), has issued a message through his lawyer, Faisal Chaudhry, stating that if talks regarding the political situation progress by tomorrow, it will be acceptable; otherwise, PTI will proceed with protests. Chaudhry emphasized that the party had no other option left but to protest, citing increasing restrictions on media and social media, including a ban on Khan’s speeches.
In a media briefing, Faisal Chaudhry conveyed that Imran Khan had given an ultimatum, saying that talks must move forward by tomorrow. If not, PTI would stage a protest. He rejected claims about the protest costing one billion rupees, calling them baseless.
Chaudhry pointed out that media censorship and restrictions on Khan’s speech were among the key reasons behind the call for protest. He also criticized the restrictions on social media, saying they were an attempt to silence the opposition. He stressed that political parties are essential for keeping the country united, and that after the events of May 9, Khan had called for a second wave of protests.
Imran Khan further emphasized that negotiations would only take place with those who held real power. He clarified that there was no “deal” being made and that the talks would focus on PTI’s demands, which, if accepted, would lead to the cancellation of the planned protest.
Chaudhry reiterated that Imran Khan had always called for peaceful protests and had faced difficulties in holding rallies, as the government had blocked such events. The PTI leader’s message was clear: “The clapping comes with both hands,” implying that progress would require cooperation from all sides.
