Imposing Ban on PTI Would Be a Big Mistake: Shah Mehmood Qureshi
Lahore: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leader Shah Mehmood Qureshi has warned that imposing a ban on PTI would be a major mistake. Speaking to the media during his appearance at an anti-terrorism court in Lahore, Qureshi emphasized that the discussions surrounding the imposition of Governor’s Rule in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa could incite hatred in the province. He further stated that banning PTI would harm the political landscape of the country.
Qureshi noted, “All political parties should think about the country’s future. Crushing PTI is not in the best interest of Pakistani politics.” He also questioned the effectiveness of banning other political parties like Tehreek-e-Labbaik and Pakistan Awami Tehreek, asking what had been achieved by such actions in the past.
The senior PTI leader thanked the Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) and Maulana Fazlur Rehman for opposing such moves and expressed gratitude towards political figure Mahmood Achakzai for also opposing a ban on PTI. Qureshi concluded by urging the government to allow him to meet with PTI chairman Imran Khan.
