IMF to Send Two More Delegations to Pakistan for Loan Negotiations

The **International Monetary Fund (IMF)** will send two additional delegations to **Pakistan** this month to negotiate separate loans totaling **$2.5 billion**.
The first delegation is set to visit Pakistan on **February 24**. The discussions will focus on a **$1.5 billion concessional loan**, which will be aimed at addressing the **damages caused by climate change**. The new loan program was discussed during a meeting between **Prime Minister** and **IMF Managing Director Kristalina Georgieva**.
The **IMF delegation** will focus on how the loan program can help mitigate the impacts of **climate change**, which caused **Pakistan’s economy to lose around $30 billion** two years ago. The program will assess the country’s climate change measures and objectives.
Further discussions on the **climate change loan program** are expected to continue until the **first week of March**. Additionally, an **IMF economic review mission** will visit Pakistan in early March to negotiate the next installment of the **$7 billion loan program**. A **$1 billion** tranche will be up for discussion, with a briefing on Pakistan’s **economic performance** from **July to December** expected to be presented.
