Islamabad: Federal Finance Minister Muhammad Aurangzeb has stated that the approval of the IMF loan program by the Executive Board is progressing, and discussions are at an advanced stage. However, he could not provide a definitive date for the final approval. He expressed optimism that the approval would be granted within the current month.
During an informal conversation with journalists in Islamabad, Aurangzeb mentioned that negotiations with the IMF regarding external financing are expected to be finalized soon. Additionally, discussions are underway with Saudi Arabia about deferred payment arrangements for oil, as well as projects and investments under bilateral agreements.
The Finance Minister also noted that talks are ongoing with commercial institutions outside of friendly nations for potential lending opportunities.
