Quetta:The Balochistan Assembly Secretariat has uncovered instances of unauthorized individuals unlawfully residing in lodges and flats designated for Members of the Provincial Assembly (MPAs). A written communication has been issued by the Assembly Secretariat instructing MPs, advisers, and parliamentary secretaries not to allow unrelated persons to reside in these accommodations.
According to the correspondence from the Balochistan Assembly Secretariat, many ministers, advisers, parliamentary secretaries, and MPs have allowed their relatives to occupy these lodges and flats instead of utilizing them for their intended purpose. Assembly members are strictly prohibited from allocating these accommodations for any other purposes such as hostels or resorts.
The presence of unauthorized residents in MPAs’ lodges has posed security challenges for the police, Special Branch, and Assembly Secretariat security staff. Incidents of theft have been reported from the MPAs’ lodges, underscoring the seriousness of the situation.
In response, it has been decided that ministers, advisers, and MPs must reside in the flats allocated to them under their own names. Non-compliance with this directive will result in the cancellation of these allocations. It is important to note that an incident of car theft involving a female MPA’s car and a relative of a minister has also been reported from the MPAs’ lodges.
