IG Sindh Clarifies No Reports of Extortion from Chinese Nationals, Emphasizes Security Measures

Karachi:IG Sindh, Ghulam Nabi Memon, has stated that there have been no reports of extortion involving Chinese nationals in the province.
Speaking to Geo News, IG Memon assured that the security of Chinese citizens is a top priority, and the police are committed to ensuring their safety. He mentioned that due to security concerns, the movement of Chinese nationals has been limited.
“There have been no reports of extortion from Chinese citizens in Sindh. We are also investigating the legal proceedings involving Chinese nationals,” said IG Memon.
He further emphasized the importance of following Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) when it comes to the security of foreigners, adding that it is mandatory for the police to implement these procedures. IG Memon also noted that local sponsors are no longer receiving the same level of response as before due to security reasons.
This statement comes amid growing concerns about the safety of foreign nationals in the region, particularly in relation to Chinese citizens involved in development projects.
