Hundreds of Passengers Stopped from Traveling Abroad, Overseas Employment Promoters Facing Financial Losses

Islamabad:Over the past week, hundreds of passengers across the country have been stopped from traveling abroad, causing significant financial losses not only to the travelers but also to overseas employment promoters.

According to Mohammad Adnan Paracha, Vice Chairman of the Overseas Employment Promoters Association, numerous passengers have been prevented from leaving the country despite having all necessary documents, including a protector’s stamp, biometric, e-visa, agreement, and insurance. However, additional documents have been demanded by authorities, causing frustration among promoters.

He expressed concern, stating, “When the passport and identity card are available, you should verify them yourself. If there needs to be any strictness, it should be directed towards those traveling on visit visas. It makes no sense to impose restrictions on those going for jobs abroad.”

Adnan Paracha further mentioned that meetings with the DG FIA, ministers, and other relevant authorities are ongoing, and letters have been written regarding the issue. He warned that this approach could not only create difficulties for those seeking employment abroad in 2025 but also reduce the number of people traveling overseas.

“We are committed to speaking out against any illegal practices, but it is unreasonable to begin harassing those who are traveling legally,” he added.

Sources within the FIA revealed that after the tragic boat incident in Greece, the agency has increased scrutiny on individuals traveling abroad. Around 30 FIA officials have also been suspended. Sources indicate that all documents of travelers are being thoroughly checked, leading to a significant number of people being stopped from leaving the country.
