Islamabad: 13 FIA Officials Face Legal Action, 35 Terminated Over Negligence in Boat Accidents
In a significant move, the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) has filed cases against 13 of its officials involved in human trafficking, while also terminating the services of 35 others. This action follows investigations into their involvement in recent boat accidents.
The decision comes under the directives of the Prime Minister, who instructed the FIA to take stringent action against the officials responsible for negligence in the tragic boat accidents. As part of the ongoing investigation, 13 FIA officials were charged with human trafficking, and 49 officials were scrutinized for their role in the boating incidents.
FIA’s Director-General, Ahmed Ishaq Jahangir, held a disciplinary hearing in which it was decided that 4 Inspectors, 10 Sub-Inspectors, 2 Assistant Sub-Inspectors (ASIs), 5 Head Constables, and 14 Constables would be dismissed from their positions for their involvement in the incidents.
In a stern statement, DG Jahangir emphasized that officials found guilty of negligence in the boat accidents will not be tolerated within the agency. He assured that disciplinary actions would be carried out to maintain the integrity of the FIA.
