HRCP Urges Political Dialogue, Expresses Concern Over Military Action in Balochistan

Quetta/Islamabad:The Human Rights Commission of Pakistan (HRCP) has issued a statement regarding the ongoing situation in Balochistan, calling for immediate, high-level political dialogue to address the unrest and violence in the province. The commission emphasized that the solution to the crisis lies in decisive political negotiations involving all relevant stakeholders, rather than further military action.

HRCP expressed grave concern over reports suggesting that the government is considering the use of more military force to resolve the issue. The commission highlighted that such measures have been taken in the past, often exacerbating anger and mistrust among the local population, particularly due to the lack of transparency and civilian oversight in these actions. This has led to widespread human rights violations, HRCP warned.

The commission called on the state to uphold the constitutional and legal rights of Balochistan’s citizens under all circumstances, stressing the need for the protection of fundamental human rights in the region. HRCP’s statement reflects growing concerns about the escalation of violence and the impact of military operations on the civilian population in Balochistan.
