HRCP Raises Concerns over Balochistan Situation, Calls for Dialogue
ٓQuetta:The Human Rights Commission of Pakistan (HRCP) has expressed grave concerns over the deteriorating situation in Balochistan, particularly in Gwadar, Mastung, and Turbat. In a statement, HRCP highlighted ongoing efforts to suppress civil liberties, including attempts to disrupt sanctioned gatherings of Baloch citizens. The commission reported receiving information of violence against demonstrators, resulting in injuries, and alleged coercive measures, including arrests and enforced disappearances aimed at dissuading leaders of the Baloch Unity Committee from continuing their assemblies.
While verifying such reports poses challenges, HRCP urged immediate federal and provincial governments to refrain from repeating past mistakes and to engage in dialogue with representatives from Balochistan at a high parliamentary level. They emphasized the constitutional rights of protesters to gather peacefully, urging authorities to ensure their safety and uphold their rights as Pakistani citizens.
