Heavy Snowfall and Rain Continue in Upper Regions of Pakistan, Travel Advisory Issued for Tourists

Rain and snowfall continue to affect the upper regions of Pakistan, including Murree, Galyat, and other mountainous areas. According to the meteorological department, a weather system bringing rain has entered the upper regions today, and intermittent rainfall and heavy snowfall on mountains are expected to persist for the next 24 hours.

The Commissioner of Murree has issued an advisory for tourists, advising them to use mechanically sound vehicles and ensure they are equipped with snow chains while traveling to Murree. The weather system is expected to bring significant rain to Islamabad, Punjab, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Gilgit-Baltistan, and Kashmir, along with heavy snowfall on the mountains.

In Murree, Nathia Gali, and Ayubia, up to 6-8 inches of snow has already fallen on the higher peaks. Similarly, light snowfall has continued in Astor since last night, with areas like Dera, Malam Jabba, Mianadam, and Kalam also experiencing increased cold due to snow.

Following the snowfall in Murree, the Deputy Commissioner has issued a traffic advisory for tourists. The advisory urges travelers to check the weather conditions before traveling to Murree and Galyat, travel in mechanically sound vehicles, and ensure their fuel tank is full. Tourists are also advised to carry food, snacks, and dry fruits, drive in lower gears, use snow chains, avoid illegal parking, and refrain from taking photos or videos while driving.

This advisory aims to ensure the safety and convenience of tourists amid the ongoing weather conditions in the region.
