Quetta:Following heavy rainfall last night, flooding in rivers and streams has disrupted the movement of passenger trains between Harnai and Sibi in Balochistan’s district of Harnai. Railway authorities report that the absence of protective walls along the designated track route between Harnai and Sibi has severely affected the railway operations, leading to the suspension of train services once again.
Last night’s rainfall caused the halt of passenger train services between Harnai and Sibi, causing significant inconvenience for travelers who now have to travel via Quetta to reach Sibi. According to passengers, the cost of traveling on this alternate route is estimated to be around 4,000 rupees.
Passengers have complained that during every rainy season, the Harnai-Sibi train service is disrupted due to flooding, prompting them to demand that the government approve the installation of protective walls and new tracks for the proper restoration of the train service that was revived after 17 years. They emphasize that these safety measures are crucial for the restoration of railway tracks to ensure uninterrupted passenger and freight train services, especially during the monsoon season. Railway authorities have initiated work on the tracks for the restoration of train services.
