Hearing of GHQ Attack Case Today: Imran Khan, Shah Mehmood Qureshi, and Others Likely to Be Indicted
Rawalpindi: December 2, 2024 – The hearing for the 9th May GHQ attack case will take place today, where Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leader Imran Khan, former Foreign Minister Shah Mehmood Qureshi, and other accused are likely to face formal charges.
According to Express News, the Anti-Terrorism Court judge, Amjad Ali Shah, has arrived at Adiala Jail to conduct the proceedings. Imran Khan and other defendants are expected to be indicted today. In addition to the GHQ case, Judge Amjad Ali Shah will also hear the case related to the 28th September protests against Imran Khan.
Imran Khan, who has completed his six-day physical remand, will be presented in court today. His legal team, including senior lawyers Salman Akram Raja, Barrister Gohar Ali Khan, Dr. Babar Awan, and his sisters Aliya and Noreen Khan, along with Barristers Salman Safdar and Usman Gul, arrived at Adiala Jail. However, the three sisters were not allowed inside the jail.
The prosecutor confirmed that the charges would be formally pressed against Imran Khan in today’s session, and arrest warrants would be issued for all absentees.
Meanwhile, Shah Mehmood Qureshi, who was transferred from Lahore’s Kot Lakhpat Jail to Adiala Jail, is also expected to face charges today. He was brought to Adiala Jail under tight security for the hearing in the GHQ case.
Additionally, the hearing of 13 cases related to the May 9 tragedy has been postponed until December 16. Notably, several key PTI leaders, including Chief Minister Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Ali Amin Gandapur, Umar Ayub, Shibli Faraz, and Shireen Mazari, were absent from the proceedings.
