Hearing of GHQ Attack Case to Take Place at Adiala Jail Today, Imran Khan Likely to be Indicted
Rawalpindi: A special anti-terrorism court will hold a hearing today at Adiala Jail regarding the May 9 attack on the General Headquarters (GHQ). Judge Amjad Ali Shah will preside over the proceedings, where former Prime Minister Imran Khan, along with 120 other accused individuals, is expected to be formally charged.
Key political figures, including Umar Ayub, Zartaj Gul, Rashid Shafiq, Sadaqat Abbasi, Waseem Qasim Abbasi, Javed Kausar, Sajid Qureshi, Musarrat Jamshed Cheema, Mohammad Ahmad Chatta, and Usman Dar, have already arrived at Adiala Jail in connection with the case. The court has summoned all the accused for today’s hearing.
Additionally, a petition from PTI’s founder and former chairman Imran Khan, seeking the removal of terrorism charges against him, will also be heard. A decision on this petition is expected to be announced.
Former Foreign Minister Shah Mehmood Qureshi, who is currently detained in Lahore Jail, has also been summoned for the proceedings.
The court has ordered the arrest and presentation of several prominent figures, including Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur, Shibli Faraz, Shireen Mazari, Zartaj Gul, Zain Qureshi, and Taiba Raja. Furthermore, 45 other absconding accused are also to be arrested and presented before the court. If any of the accused fail to appear, legal proceedings will begin to declare them absconders and proceed with their arrest warrants.
