Quetta:Leaders and representatives from various political and social organizations in District Hub have raised concerns over the deteriorating healthcare facilities at the Jam Ghulam Qadir Government Hospital. They have highlighted the lack of essential medical supplies, including syringes and painkillers, in emergency situations. The hospital, which serves as the largest public healthcare facility with 50 beds in District Hub, is facing severe shortages affecting the treatment of patients from surrounding rural areas and towns.
During a consultation meeting at the Nursing College Hub, convened to address these issues, political figures and retired doctors emphasized the urgent need for government intervention. They criticized the authorities for neglecting the hospital’s needs despite repeated appeals and highlighted that the population of Hub has significantly increased, yet infrastructure and medical supplies have not kept pace.
Former Medical Superintendent Dr. Hayat Roonjho pointed out that while the government had initially allocated funds and medicines proportionate to the population size, the rapid population growth has rendered these allocations insufficient. He stressed that the hospital, struggling with basic amenities and lacking even basic cleanliness standards, requires immediate attention and substantial investment.
Leaders including Comrade Imran Baloch from the National Party and Councilor Abdul Razzaq Lasi from the Pakistan Peoples Party expressed disappointment over the lack of progress in addressing the hospital’s critical deficiencies. They called for immediate steps to improve conditions and demanded the establishment of a trauma center to cater to the city’s industrial workforce and the growing population.
In response, Dr. Majid Bazinjo, a representative of the Young Doctors Association Hub, assured that they would continue their efforts to highlight the hospital’s plight through various platforms. He emphasized the need for sustained advocacy to ensure that the Jam Ghulam Qadir Government Hospital receives the necessary resources and upgrades to meet the healthcare needs of the local community effectively.
