Healthcare Crisis in Balochistan as Grand Health Alliance Continues Symbolic Strike for Fourth Week
Quetta:The symbolic strike by the Grand Health Alliance in Balochistan’s hospitals has entered its fourth week, causing severe disruption in the outpatient departments (OPDs) across the province. The ongoing strike has led to significant challenges for patients seeking medical care in public hospitals.
The Grand Health Alliance has raised strong objections against the provincial government’s decision to run hospitals under the Public-Private Partnership (PPP) model. The Alliance has demanded the government reverse this decision, claiming it will negatively impact the quality and accessibility of healthcare services for the public.
Additionally, the Alliance is calling for the cancellation of recent appointments in the health department on a contract and ad-hoc basis, which they argue undermine the job security and rights of medical staff.
As the strike continues, patients are facing long delays and inconvenience, with many reporting worsening conditions due to the lack of proper medical attention. Despite ongoing negotiations between the authorities and the Grand Health Alliance, no resolution has been reached yet, and the situation remains tense in Balochistan’s healthcare sector.
