Karachi:Hafiz Naeem Ur Rehman, Amir of Jamaat-e-Islami, has asserted that the government has no option but to implement the agreements made with the party. Speaking to the media, Rehman emphasized that the public is suffering from high electricity and fuel costs, and Jamaat-e-Islami’s recent historic sit-in in Rawalpindi went unnoticed, which his party aims to address.
Rehman stated that the government had agreed to the demands in writing, which include reducing electricity prices and lowering taxes. He warned that if these agreements are not implemented, Jamaat-e-Islami would stage a protest at D-Chowk and mobilize a nationwide march to Islamabad.
He clarified that the party’s agenda is clear and focused on addressing general public issues rather than personal interests. Rehman firmly rejected any form of unjust taxes and expressed ongoing concerns about Independent Power Producers (IPPs). He criticized past agreements with IPPs during various political tenures as fraudulent and demanded thorough scrutiny of these agreements.
