Gunfire Targeting KP Government Delegation’s Helicopter in Parachinar; All Officials Safe
Islamabad: A helicopter carrying a high-level delegation from the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) government came under gunfire while en route to Parachinar, but all officials on board remained unharmed. The delegation was led by Provincial Law Minister Aftab Alam and included KP’s Chief Secretary, Kohat Commissioner, Kohat DIG, and DPO.
According to Express News, the delegation was on a mission to assess the security situation in Kurram and to work towards restoring peace in the region. The delegation’s visit was in line with the directives of KP Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur, who has emphasized improving law and order and reinvigorating the local jirga (tribal council) to foster stability.
The attack occurred in Parachinar, but fortunately, the helicopter was able to make a safe emergency landing. The incident has raised concerns about security in the area, though authorities have assured that the delegation was unharmed.
Earlier, Aftab Alam had stressed the government’s commitment to improving peace and security in the region, adding that KP’s police and other agencies are working diligently to address the situation and restore order.
