Lahore: Tensions between the Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) and the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) have escalated over the failure to implement a power-sharing formula. Punjab Governor Sardar Saleem Haider has decided to inform PPP Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari about the situation and suggest the termination of the provincial-level power-sharing agreement.
Governor Haider stated that a written power-sharing formula was agreed upon before the formation of the government, and despite multiple meetings between PML-N and PPP, no progress has been made. He expressed frustration over the need to repeatedly request meetings.
The Governor plans to propose to Bilawal Bhutto Zardari that the power-sharing formula be dissolved for the greater good of the country, indicating that the PML-N’s cooperation is necessary for the system to function effectively. He emphasized that expectations of gaining any advantage in Punjab from the PML-N should be tempered and that his party would focus on merit-based politics rather than developmental projects.
Haider affirmed his commitment to addressing public issues and strengthening both the party and community in Punjab, stating that the Governor’s House would remain open to the public and party workers 24/7.
