Grand Tribal Jirga Resolves 15-Year-Old Feud in Qalat

Qalat:A grand tribal jirga was successfully held at the Qalat Royal Court under the patronage of Prince Agha Omar Jan Ahmedzai and Crown Prince Agha Mohammad Ahmedzai. The jirga facilitated a peaceful resolution to a 15-year-old bloody conflict between three factions of the Ababki tribe, bringing an end to the violent dispute that had resulted in over a dozen deaths and numerous injuries.

The dispute, which began in 2009 among the factions led by Takri Haji Din Mohammad Ababki, Mir Dulat Khan Ababki, and Haji Shah Jan Ababki, had caused significant financial and personal losses. The jirga, organized with the efforts of Takri Shakur Allah Ababki, Sanaullah Ababki, and Chairman Ghulam Haider Ababki, appointed several arbitrators including Chief of Barric Nawa Mohammad Khan Shahwani, Sardar Kamal Khan Bangulzai, and others to mediate the settlement.

During the jirga, all parties presented their statements, and the jirga, considering tribal customs and Sharia principles, issued a resolution that was unanimously accepted by the factions. The resolution included compensation for the victims’ families and a schedule for financial restitution.

Prince Agha Omar Jan Ahmedzai, in his closing remarks, emphasized the importance of peaceful conflict resolution and the preservation of the tribal system. He noted that the successful resolution of this complex issue in a matter of hours demonstrated the effectiveness and vitality of the tribal system in addressing disputes. He urged everyone to continue supporting and sustaining the tribal laws and customs.

Following the resolution, the parties embraced each other in reconciliation, and a formal luncheon was hosted in honor of the esteemed guests.
