Quetta:In a significant development for agricultural advancement in Balochistan, a grand jirga was convened in the Dasht Tehsil of Kech district, facilitated by the IG Frontier Corps (South) and district administration. The event was attended by local dignitaries and farmers.
During the jirga, Green Pakistan Executive announced plans to install 125 tube wells and bring 2,500 acres of land under cultivation within a year in Dasht Tehsil. Furthermore, it was revealed that an additional 793 tube wells will be installed in the coming year as part of this initiative. The primary objective of these efforts is to ensure water supply to non-arable agricultural lands, thereby enhancing local farmers’ productivity and livelihoods.
The initiative under Green Pakistan Executive also includes excavation of tube wells and provision of modern solar system setups in the region during the current season. These measures aim to transform non-irrigated agricultural lands into cultivable areas, ensuring sustainable agricultural growth.
IG Frontier Corps (South) expressed determination to strengthen the agricultural sector and improve economic conditions for farmers in Southern Balochistan. This initiative is seen as a crucial step towards long-term benefits for local farmers.
Acknowledging improved security conditions in the area, the local community thanked IG Frontier Corps (South) and expressed readiness to collaborate for future endeavors. Discussions were also held on resolving various local issues, with assurances from IG Frontier Corps (South) and Deputy Commissioner Kech to address them effectively.
IG Frontier Corps (South) distributed incentives among farmers achieving good yields in the agricultural sector. The district administration pledged continued cooperation with local farmers to ensure successful completion of these projects. Additionally, registration processes for farmers in Dasht Tehsil were announced, continuing until August 1st.
This concerted effort is expected to significantly enhance agricultural productivity and economic stability in the region, benefiting local communities in the long run.
