Governor of Balochistan Highlights the Importance of Mother Languages on the Silver Jubilee of International Mother Language Day

Quetta: On the occasion of the Silver Jubilee of International Mother Language Day, Governor of Balochistan, Jaafar Khan Mandokhel, in his message, emphasized the significance of mother languages in shaping the identity, intellectual growth, and long-term development of a nation. He stated that International Mother Language Day, observed on February 21, highlights the eternal legal status of mother languages, which is attributed to the unconditional love of mothers.
It is noteworthy that the United Nations Charter and Pakistan’s 1973 Constitution guarantee the protection, development, and promotion of mother languages. For fostering harmony and unity among diverse languages and civilizations, it is essential to promote intellectual and literary work in mother languages. The aim of celebrating International Mother Language Day in 2025 is to highlight the important role of languages in fostering tolerance among humans and contributing to national development.
Mandokhel further stressed that mother languages not only serve as a means of expression but are also powerful tools for communication that transfer cultural heritage from one generation to another. The protection and promotion of mother languages require guidance and support from intellectuals, writers, poets, and especially policymakers. Recognizing the importance of mother languages will enable us to work towards a more inclusive and diverse world, with our diversity being our strength.
