Governor Balochistan Jaafar Khan Emphasizes Economic Stability and Expansion of Benazir Income Support Program

QUETTA:Governor Balochistan, Jaafar Khan, has underscored the critical role of a robust economic system for the sustainable development and prosperity of the nation. He emphasized the importance of ensuring that the benefits of economic factors reach the common man. During a briefing on the Benazir Income Support Program (BISP), he highlighted the severe poverty in Balochistan compared to other provinces and called for the expansion of the program at the district and grassroots levels.

Governor Khan pointed out that many vacant positions in the program have yet to be filled, hindering the poor people of Balochistan from benefiting from available resources. He stressed the need for timely appointments to these positions to ensure that the benefits of the program are effectively distributed among the population.

The briefing was delivered by Jalala Faiz, the Director General of BISP Balochistan, with Principal Secretary to the Governor of Balochistan, Hashim Khan Ghulzai, and Taimur Shah of BISP also in attendance.

Governor Khan emphasized the need for further improvements to make the program more accessible to the people of Balochistan. While he acknowledged the improvements in financial management and transparency within the program, he stated that more work is required to enhance its performance. He also praised the cooperation of NADRA and FIA with BISP.

Dr. Jalala Faiz, the Director General, informed the Governor about challenges in remote areas where the lack of internet facilities is slowing down the program’s performance. In response, Governor Khan expressed hope that in the future, relevant institutions will continue to collaborate and improve the quality of life for underprivileged, poor, and deserving individuals in society through continued cooperation and efforts.
