Government’s Involvement in Harna Incident Criticized by Pashtunkhwa Milli Awami Party

Quetta: The Pashtunkhwa Milli Awami Party (PKMAP) has strongly condemned the recent bombing incident in Harna, calling it a manifestation of the government’s involvement in the self-created unrest in the region. According to a central press release by PKMAP, a bomb blast targeted a pickup truck carrying coal mine workers from Shahrag Coal Mines, which occurred at 8 AM today. The workers were traveling from the mines to the market when the vehicle hit an explosive device hidden on the road. The explosion killed 10 coal mine workers on the spot and left eight others severely injured.
The statement further pointed out that despite receiving information about threats to the mine owners, the district administration failed to take appropriate action. Coal mine owners have been receiving constant threats and were also instructed to deposit money at a bank in Quetta, with the bank’s contact details provided to the administration. However, no action was taken by the authorities, raising serious concerns about the lack of response.
PKMAP accused the provincial government of being complicit in the ongoing instability in Harna, stating that the government seems determined to shut down the coal mining industry in the region. The statement highlighted that the roads connecting Harna, Sanjavi, and Punjab have been blocked for the past seven months, and the Subi train service and the road to Quetta have become unusable.
The party emphasized that the government’s actions of disrupting the livelihoods of Harna’s residents and businesses have become intolerable. If the authorities fail to act and stop the violence and unrest, the people of Harna will be forced to take matters into their own hands, with all responsibility falling on the government.
