Government Takes Key Steps to Curb Terrorist Activities on Social Media
Islamabad: The government has decided to implement comprehensive measures to curb the activities of terrorist organizations on social media. A key decision was made in a meeting chaired by Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi, where participants agreed to improve coordination between NACTA (National Counter Terrorism Authority) and provincial authorities.
The meeting, which was part of the National Action Plan’s Coordination Committee, concluded that with the cooperation of the Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA), accounts associated with terrorist groups would be blocked. Additionally, a strategy was devised to curb the use of illegal SIM cards, with provinces instructed to take action under a unified plan.
The committee was informed that, as of October this year, 7,984 intelligence-based operations had been conducted, leading to the elimination of 206 terrorists.
In his remarks, Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi condemned the recent terrorist attacks in Balochistan and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, calling them deeply tragic and reprehensible. He assured that full support would be given to enhance the professional capabilities of counter-terrorism forces in these provinces.
The meeting also called for the relevant authorities, including PTA, to present an effective mechanism in the next session to tackle these pressing security concerns.
