Government Decides to Cut Expensive Power Plants to Reduce Electricity Prices
Islamabad: The government has decided to phase out costly power plants as part of its strategy to lower electricity prices. According to a statement from the Power Division, a delegation from MQM met with Federal Minister for Power, Sardar Owais Ahmad Khan Lagari, to discuss electricity issues in Karachi in detail.
The statement noted that the delegation was briefed on ongoing reforms in the power sector and informed that the federal government is working urgently to resolve electricity-related issues. It was announced that in order to reduce electricity prices, expensive power plants would be retired, and plants currently using imported coal would be transitioned to local coal.
