Gas Supply Disruption in Quetta as Winter Sets In, Citizens Face Severe Hardships

Quetta:As the winter season begins in the provincial capital, Quetta, residents are facing severe difficulties due to a complete disruption in the natural gas supply. The gas pressure has drastically dropped across various areas of the city, leaving citizens without a reliable source of heating amid the cold weather.

According to reports, gas supply has disappeared entirely in parts of the city, particularly in areas such as Saryab Road, Arbab Karam Khan Road, Brewery Road, Joint Road, Manojan Road, Shahbaz Town, Double Road, Sarki Road, Pashtunabad, and Kansi Road. The gas pressure has been so low that residents are unable to use it for heating or cooking.

Despite the onset of the cold season, the gas authorities have failed to take any proactive measures, such as increasing gas pressure or making arrangements to meet the rising demand. As a result, many areas of Quetta are experiencing gas load-shedding, with gas pressure only available for a few hours each day—just three hours out of 24. The remaining 21 hours are marked by severe gas shortages, causing considerable hardship for residents, especially the elderly and children.

Citizens have voiced their frustration with the situation, urging the Sui Southern Gas Company (SSGC) to take immediate action and address the ongoing crisis. With the cold weather intensifying day by day, residents are calling for an increase in gas pressure to ensure they can stay warm and carry out their daily activities without facing constant disruptions.

The gas shortage has become a growing concern in Quetta, and local authorities have been urged to resolve the issue before it escalates further.
