Quetta:The coastal city of Gwadar is facing a severe gas supply crisis following the depletion of stocks at the Sui Southern Gas Company Limited (SSGCL). This shortage has left domestic consumers deeply troubled.
Fayaz Nagori, a member of the Municipal Committee in Gwadar, highlighted that the city, which hosts approximately 250 households, relied heavily on gas for daily needs, similar to Karachi. Iranian gas is currently being sold in Gwadar at a price of Rs. 280 per kilogram, reflecting a significant increase in costs. Additionally, the price of wood has escalated, compounding the difficulties faced by ordinary consumers.
The elected representatives have expressed their dismay over the lack of interest shown by the concerned authorities in addressing the gas supply crisis in Gwadar City. They have urgently appealed to the Sui Southern Gas Company in Karachi to ensure the prompt resumption of gas supply to Gwadar City, alleviating the hardships faced by the general public.
