Gas Pipeline Explosion in Kuala Lumpur Injures Over 100 People

A gas pipeline explosion in the outskirts of Malaysia’s capital, Kuala Lumpur, has led to a massive fire, injuring more than 100 people. According to news agencies, the incident occurred on the second day of Eid in the area of Putra Heights, near a gas station, where the pipeline burst and caused a widespread fire.
The Malaysian News Agency reported that Deputy Police officials confirmed that at least 49 houses were damaged, and 112 people were injured, with 63 of them being transferred to hospitals.
In a statement, Malaysia’s national oil company, Petronas, confirmed that the affected pipeline was isolated, and the fire was brought under control.
Selangor’s Chief Minister, Amirudin Shari, stated that the fire department evacuated nearby homes as a precautionary measure and that residents were temporarily sheltered in nearby mosques until the situation was brought under control.
