Islamabad: The Foreign Office has confirmed the martyrdom of four Pakistanis in a terrorist attack at a mosque in Muscat, the capital of Oman. Additionally, 30 Pakistani nationals are currently undergoing treatment in hospitals due to injuries sustained in the incident.
Foreign Office spokesperson Mumtaz Zahra Baloch stated that Pakistan strongly condemns the cowardly terrorist attack on the Imam Bargah Ali ibn Abi Talib in Wadi Kabir, Muscat. The attack resulted in multiple fatalities, including four Pakistanis.
She further mentioned that Pakistan’s embassy in Oman is in contact with Omani authorities for the identification of the deceased Pakistani nationals and facilitating their repatriation. A helpline has been established to address queries from the Pakistani community in Oman and provide them with assistance.
Baloch emphasized that Oman’s government has effectively thwarted the attackers, and Pakistan stands ready to assist in investigations during this sacred month of Muharram and ensure perpetrators are brought to justice.
The spokesperson added that an additional 30 injured Pakistani citizens are receiving medical care in Omani hospitals.
This incident marks a tragic loss for the Pakistani community in Oman, and efforts are underway to provide support and comfort to affected families during this difficult time.
