Former Miss Pakistan, Actress Arij Choudhry Advocates for Women Carrying Weapons for Self-Defense

Islamabad :Former Miss Pakistan, model, and actress Arij Choudhry has expressed concerns about the safety of women in Pakistan, stating that it is an unsafe country, particularly for women, who face incidents every day. She emphasized that girls should carry weapons for their own protection.
Choudhry recently appeared on the ‘FHM’ podcast, where she openly discussed various topics. The actress revealed that she is proficient in handling different types of weapons, having received formal training in shooting. She said she developed an interest in firearms from a young age, leading her to take shooting lessons. After completing her training, she began carrying weapons for her own safety.
Arij Choudhry stated that she always carries a licensed firearm with her, both in her car and purse. She shared that it was due to having a weapon with her that she was once able to thwart an alleged abduction attempt.
According to Choudhry, Pakistan is an unsafe country, where women face constant threats, and it is essential for women to take steps to protect themselves. She highlighted that many young women work late into the night to support their families and often do not have safe transportation options to return home, making it necessary for them to carry weapons for self-defense.
Choudhry rejected the notion that women would misuse weapons out of anger, explaining that the decision to use a weapon depends on an individual’s mindset and personality. She stated that it is often assumed that if women carry weapons, they will use them unnecessarily, which she believes is a misunderstanding.
She encouraged women to not only learn how to use firearms but also to carry them for personal protection.
