Quetta:Former Federal Minister and tribal leader Mir Nasir Mengal has expressed support for the Pakistani government’s position that the Baloch Liberation Army (BLA) and Taliban are receiving backing from neighboring Afghanistan. He stated that groups like the BLA seek independence and are involved in the killing of innocent Punjabis and security forces.
In an interview with the news agency UNA, Mengal praised the development initiatives led by Chief Minister of Balochistan, Mir Sarfaraz Bugti, asserting that the provincial government is making strides in improving the lives of the people. He emphasized that positive outcomes from these efforts will soon be evident.
Responding to a question, Mengal noted that opposition to Pakistan’s accession by Khan of Kalat in the past persists today, as many leaders have historically opposed this decision. He reiterated that the BLA’s actions, supported by external influences, aim to prevent Pakistan’s progress.
Mengal underscored the wealth of natural resources in Balochistan and urged the government to prioritize developmental projects in the province to ensure that the local population receives equitable facilities compared to other regions.
