Khuzdar:Senior leader of the Pakistan Peoples Party and former Chief Minister of Balochistan, Nawab Sanaullah Khan Zehri, has strongly criticized the use of baton charges and tear gas against women and children during a rally of missing persons’ relatives in Quetta yesterday.
In a statement issued to the media, Nawab Zehri termed the incident as a shameful act and called for a transparent inquiry by the Balochistan government into the matter. He demanded strict disciplinary action against those responsible for the brutal crackdown.
“Our society is tribal, and women hold a place of honor and respect in our customs and traditions. In a tribal province like Balochistan, baton charging women and children and throwing tear gas is an unforgivable crime,” Nawab Zehri stated emphatically.
He further emphasized the need for authorities to resolve such issues through wisdom, dialogue, and negotiation. “Acts like these breed hatred. It was not desirable for such an incident to occur in Quetta yesterday. Everyone has the right to protest peacefully in a democratic manner. The use of force is never the solution,” he added.
Nawab Zehri urged the government to demonstrate patience, tolerance, and magnanimity to reduce bitterness and animosity. He stressed that the demands of the relatives should be heard, and the ongoing efforts by the government for missing persons should also instill confidence and trust among the affected families.
