Former Balochistan CM Nawab Aslam Raisani Raises Concerns Over IMF Loan and Its Implications
Quetta:Former Chief Minister of Balochistan, Nawab Aslam Khan Raisani, has raised significant questions regarding the legitimacy of IMF loans and their potential implications, suggesting that if the use of VPNs is considered un-Islamic, then obtaining loans from the International Monetary Fund (IMF) should also be viewed in a similar light. In a post on the social media platform X (formerly Twitter), Raisani questioned the Islamic legitimacy of elections funded through such loans.
“If using a VPN is considered un-Islamic, then borrowing from the IMF is also un-Islamic,” Raisani wrote. “And if the elections are conducted using funds from this loan, what would be the Islamic status of the Parliament formed as a result? What would be the status of the salaries of government employees who are paid through this loan?”
Raisani’s remarks seem to challenge the legitimacy of international financial assistance and its potential impact on Pakistan’s political and financial systems, particularly when it comes to the constitutional framework and the morality of using such funds to conduct elections. His comments have sparked a debate on social media and among political circles regarding the role of foreign loans and their ethical and legal status in Pakistan.
