Islamabad – The spokesperson for the Foreign Office, Mumtaz Zahra Baloch, has termed the Iranian statement regarding Parachinar as unnecessary. In a weekly press briefing, Baloch highlighted that Deputy Prime Minister Ishaq Dar visited Iran to attend the inauguration ceremony of Iranian President Massoud Pezeshkian and extended congratulatory messages to the Iranian leadership.
Baloch emphasized that Pakistan strongly condemns Israel’s aggression in the region and its attacks on Lebanon, which constitute a blatant violation of international laws, United Nations resolutions, and Lebanon’s sovereignty. She warned that Israel’s dangerous aggression jeopardizes regional peace.
The spokesperson also condemned the killing of Hamas Political Bureau Chief Ismail Haniyeh as an act of Israeli aggression, expressing condolences to Haniyeh’s family and calling for action against those responsible. She warned that Israel’s new adventurism could exacerbate the conflict.
Baloch noted that next Monday marks the dark anniversary of August 5, 2019, when India unilaterally and illegally altered the status of Jammu and Kashmir. Pakistan remains committed to providing political and moral support to the Kashmiri people.
Regarding recent UN reports, Baloch confirmed that they corroborate Pakistan’s long-standing position that the Tehrik-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) receives support and training from within Afghanistan. She urged Afghanistan to take action against terrorist groups operating from its territory.
In response to a question about the attack on a UN vehicle in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Baloch reiterated Pakistan’s responsibility to protect foreign tourists, businesspeople, and diplomats.
On the issue of Iranian comments about the recent casualties in Kurram and Parachinar, Baloch stated that while any loss of life is unacceptable, the Iranian statement was deemed unnecessary as it did not fully cover the situation in Parachinar. The Ministry of Interior is addressing the matter.
